La Paz Batchoy Food Crawl at Iloilo
Monday, July 14, 2014Our main purpose of visit in Iloilo was to attend the wedding of his former boss. We are really obsessed in foods and most of our city adventure involved foodtrip. I watched the Ang Pinaka: Yummy in Iloilo episode on GMA News TV and used it as our reference on our food adventure. So here’s our great adventure:
Nervous face of Boots (his 2nd time to ride on plane).
Sea of clouds
We stayed at Highway 21. The hotel has a very unique heart shaped ceiling.
We are just in time for the Dinagyang Festival.
The main highlight of our trip: THE WEDDING
WHERE TO EAT
Our foodtrip adventure started at Breakthrough. I‘m sorry but I don’t have the actual images of the food since the lighting there was not good. The food are all delicious. We ate kilaw, inihaw na bangus, liempo, and etc.
The next day, we ate our lunch at Tatoy’s Manokan. We ate their specialty, lechong manok, steamed oyster, chicharong bulaklak, grilled fish, grilled squid, kilawin and ensaladang mangga. (left to right)
THE BEST LA PAZ BATCHOY
Iloilo is known for their delicious and special La Paz Batchoy. One of the reason why we visited Iloilo is to search and taste the best La Paz Batchoy.
First on our list is the La Paz Batchoy of Ted’s. For me, it taste the same with the batchoy here in Manila.
Second is the Deco’s miswa La Paz Batchoy. At first its a bit weird because it s not usual to see miswa noodles in a bowl of La Paz Batchoy but surprisingly it is really delicious. Another plus is that you can request for additional garlic, chicharon and even the soup.
Last stop is the Netong’s La Paz Batchoy. They said that it is the first La Paz Batchoy store in the town. It is located at La Paz Public Market. At first, you will feel awkward to eat there because it is located at the market but if you are not that picky you should add Netong's La Paz Batchoy on your list. La Paz Batchoy soup is really delicious that it can match Deco’s La Paz Batchoy. They also serve extra garlic and chicharon. You can pair it with their puto wrapped in banana leaves. For me, among the three, Netong's wins the best La Paz Batchoy.
We really enjoyed eating during our city adventure in Iloilo and I am still looking forward to return to that place to eat La Paz Batchoy.
